MIRPUR: Mobile phone and internet services have begun to resume in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, ending a disruption that had lasted for approximately 45 days.
According to local reports, mobile connectivity and internet services are gradually being restored in Mirpur and its surrounding areas, allowing residents to reconnect after weeks of communication difficulties.
The prolonged suspension had affected daily life, businesses, students, and residents who rely on digital communication for education, work, and access to essential online services.
Bilawal Bhutto Welcomes Restoration
Shortly before the restoration process began, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said he had received reports indicating that internet and digital communication services in Mirpur would soon be reinstated.
In a statement, Bilawal expressed hope that the remaining restrictions in other parts of Azad Kashmir would also be lifted in the near future.
“We have received information that internet and digital connectivity in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, will soon be restored,” he said.
He further added, “We hope that our requests regarding Muzaffarabad and other affected areas will also be accepted soon.”
Residents Welcome the Move
The restoration of telecommunications services has been welcomed by residents, many of whom had faced significant challenges due to the prolonged outage. The suspension disrupted online education, banking services, business operations, social communication, and access to government and emergency information.
Businesses that depend on digital transactions and internet-based communication were among the sectors most affected during the service disruption.
Students also experienced difficulties attending online classes, accessing educational resources, and communicating with educational institutions.
