MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has expressed support for a student protest reportedly led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), describing the movement as a peaceful campaign for educational reform.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Salman Khan said it was unfortunate that the demonstration had turned violent.
“It was a very peaceful movement, but it is deeply saddening to see it take a violent turn. My heart goes out to the students and their families who suffered during the unrest,” he wrote.
The actor described the paper leak issue as a serious concern and praised students for coming together to demand a better education system.
“The paper leak issue is extremely serious. I am happy to see students across our country unite for a better educational system. It is equally encouraging that their parents have stood firmly by their side,” he said.
Salman Khan commended the students for their dedication and determination, saying they had demonstrated a genuine commitment to education and a desire to build a brighter future.
“I wholeheartedly appreciate the students’ cause and struggle. Through their sincerity, dedication, and hard work, they have shown that they want to study, secure a better future, and contribute to building a more educated and developed India.”
He added that the protest had begun as a peaceful movement and praised the students’ courage and commitment.
“Their bravery, determination, and passion for education are truly commendable. I believe this generation will make India proud in the future,” he wrote.
Salman Khan also urged that the issue should not be politicized, saying it was fundamentally a matter concerning students and the education system.
“This is an issue between students and the education system, so it should not be given a political colour. The credit for this movement belongs entirely to the students of our country.”
He expressed confidence that the government would support the students and take necessary steps to strengthen the education system for the benefit of all.
Concluding his message, Salman Khan said he hoped for a positive resolution to the issue and wished success to students striving to pursue education.
