ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed concern over attempts to draw Saudi Arabia into the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, while reaffirming its unwavering support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
Speaking at the Foreign Office’s weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan strongly condemned threats made by the Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia and commercial shipping.
He said threats targeting commercial vessels pose a serious risk to regional peace, maritime security, and global trade, stressing the importance of ensuring the free and safe movement of international shipping.
The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its maritime interests and emphasized that Islamabad remains deeply concerned about the escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan supports efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and continues to advocate dialogue and diplomacy to resolve disputes peacefully.
He added that Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia and remains committed to supporting the Kingdom’s security and stability amid the evolving regional situation.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region and growing concerns over attacks and threats affecting commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea and surrounding waters.
