MIRPUR, Bangladesh: Pakistan made an impressive start to the South Asian Karate Championship by winning 10 medals, including two gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals, on the opening day of the tournament.
Mir Hamza Kasi claimed Pakistan’s first gold medal in the men’s under-75kg category with a commanding performance.
The country’s second gold medal came through Taha Mustafa, who topped the junior under-63kg category.
Pakistan’s women’s team also enjoyed a successful day, with Anita Fatima, Hafiza Iqra Munawar, Aqsa Azam, Laiba Zia, and Rabia Farooq each earning bronze medals.
In the men’s events, Mir Waiz Khan secured the silver medal, while Shamsh Iftikhar and Mir Hamza added two more bronze medals to Pakistan’s tally.
With two gold, one silver, and seven bronze medals, Pakistan concluded the opening day with a total of 10 medals, marking a strong start to its campaign in the regional championship.
