RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has reported a 22.5% increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims, with Pakistani nationals accounting for the largest share of visitors during the current Umrah season.
According to the ministry, the 2026–27 Umrah season began on 15 Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH, following the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Between then and 29 Muharram, more than 900,000 pilgrims performed Umrah over a period of approximately six weeks.
The ministry said around 200,000 pilgrims from Pakistan arrived during this period, making Pakistan the leading source of Umrah visitors. Indonesia ranked second with approximately 170,000 pilgrims, followed by Iraq with about 130,000.
Saudi authorities had begun issuing Umrah visas on May 31, 2026.
According to the announced schedule, the last date for Umrah visa issuance is 1 Shawwal 1448 AH (March 9, 2027), while the final date for pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia is 15 Shawwal 1448 AH (March 23, 2027).
The deadline for departing Saudi Arabia after completing Umrah has been set as 30 Shawwal 1448 AH (April 7, 2027).
The ministry has advised intending pilgrims to complete their registration and travel documentation well in advance to avoid any difficulties during their pilgrimage.
Hajj Registration Continues in Pakistan
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs said that online registration for Hajj pilgrims is continuing.
According to the ministry, 340,000 people have registered online so far. Of these, 246,000 have opted for the government Hajj scheme, while 94,000 have chosen the private Hajj scheme.
A ministry spokesperson said an announcement regarding the online collection of Hajj dues is expected soon and advised registered applicants to use the Pak Hajj mobile application or the ministry’s Hajj helplines for information and assistance.
