PESHAWAR: At least six members of a family, including a husband, wife, and their children, lost their lives after a fire broke out in a house in the Tehkal Payan area of Peshawar, rescue officials confirmed.

According to Rescue 1122 authorities, emergency teams rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze and launched a search and rescue operation. During the operation, rescuers discovered the bodies of six people inside one of the rooms of the house.

Officials said the deceased included a married couple and their children. The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released, while authorities are in the process of informing relatives and completing the necessary legal formalities.

Rescue officials stated that the victims are believed to have died due to intense heat and smoke inhalation caused by the fire. Although the exact cause of death will be confirmed after further examination, preliminary findings suggest that the family was trapped inside the room as the fire spread, leaving them unable to escape.

Authorities said the blaze erupted in a section of the house where furniture and other household items had been stored. The presence of combustible materials is believed to have fueled the fire, causing it to spread rapidly and produce heavy smoke throughout the building.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control after several hours of firefighting efforts, preventing it from spreading to neighboring houses. Rescue personnel continued searching the affected structure to ensure no additional victims remained trapped inside.

Officials noted that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation has been launched to establish how the blaze started. Experts will examine the site to determine whether the incident was caused by an electrical short circuit, a gas-related accident, or another factor.

Police also reached the scene and secured the area while investigators collected evidence. The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal procedures and possible postmortem examinations, if required.

The tragic incident has left residents of the neighborhood in shock, with local people gathering near the affected house as rescue operations continued. Authorities have urged the public to observe fire safety measures and ensure electrical wiring and household appliances are properly maintained to reduce the risk of similar incidents.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses and officials complete their assessment of the circumstances surrounding the deadly fire.
