DOHA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during his visit to Doha and conveyed Pakistan’s condolences on the passing of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow over the former ruler’s death and paid tribute to his visionary leadership and significant contributions to regional peace, stability, and development.
The prime minister also recalled the late former emir’s memorable visits to Pakistan, describing them as an important reflection of the close and longstanding relationship between the two countries.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity and sympathy with the leadership and people of Qatar during their time of grief.
Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and the Pakistani delegation for visiting Qatar and offering their condolences.
The meeting was attended by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and other senior Pakistani officials.
Earlier, upon his arrival in Doha, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was received by Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
Following the completion of his visit and condolence engagements, the prime minister returned to Pakistan.
