Hyderabad, July 3 (APP): Concerns over rising wheat prices in the open market and its impact on flour rates led to an important meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad, Zain-ul-Abideen Memon, at the DC Office.
The meeting was attended by the District Food Controller, officials from the Bureau of Supply and Prices, representatives of the Flour Mills Association, Atta Chakki Association, Kirana Merchants Association, supermarket representatives, and other stakeholders.
Officials informed the meeting that wheat prices in the open market have increased significantly, with a 100-kg wheat bag being sold between Rs. 11,500 and Rs. 11,800. As a result, flour prices in some areas of the city have reached up to Rs. 150 per kg.
To provide relief to consumers and stabilize prices, the meeting unanimously decided on revised rates. It was agreed that flour mills will sell flour at Rs. 127 per kg wholesale and Rs. 130 per kg retail. For flour mills (chakkis) and retail shops, the wholesale price was set at Rs. 145 per kg and the retail price at Rs. 148 per kg.
Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon directed officials to ensure strict implementation of the fixed prices and ordered strict action against profiteers, hoarders, and those charging excessive rates without discrimination. He also urged citizens to report any shopkeepers selling flour above the official rates so that legal action can be taken.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all associations and stakeholders assured full cooperation with the district administration and agreed to comply with the officially fixed flour prices.
