At the sidelines of the Arab-Islamic Summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a significant meeting with the Emir of Qatar. According to the official statement, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, highlighting the importance Pakistan attaches to its relations with Qatar as well as to the broader regional situation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the Israeli attack carried out in Doha on September 9, describing it as a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and of international law. He stressed that such aggression is unacceptable and goes against the principles of peace and stability in the Middle East. The Prime Minister also praised Qatar’s decision to host the extraordinary summit, terming it a timely and bold step to unify the Muslim world in the face of challenges. In response, the Emir of Qatar thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the summit and appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, both leaders agreed to remain in close contact on regional developments, underlining the need for stronger consultation and coordination. The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar, which have long been rooted in shared history, culture, and religion. Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan stands firmly with Qatar in difficult times, and assured that cooperation in political, economic, and defense fields will be enhanced.
Emphasizing the worsening situation in the Middle East, the Prime Minister urged the immediate cessation of Israeli aggression, stating that continued hostilities threaten not only regional peace but also the stability of the wider Muslim world. He called for collective action by the Muslim Ummah, noting that unity is needed today more than ever before to protect sovereignty, safeguard human rights, and uphold international law. He also highlighted that Pakistan will continue to play its role in promoting peace and supporting all efforts aimed at halting violence and fostering dialogue.
The discussions also touched on broader regional security, the importance of multilateral cooperation, and the urgency of humanitarian assistance for those affected by the ongoing conflict. Both leaders emphasized that the Arab-Islamic Summit should serve as a platform to amplify the voice of Muslim countries, push back against injustice, and chart a course toward peace and reconciliation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s remarks carried a dual message: solidarity with Qatar as a brotherly nation, and a strong appeal for Muslim countries to set aside differences and work together in the face of external threats. His call for unity resonated with the summit’s broader theme of strengthening collective resolve. The meeting concluded with a renewed understanding that Pakistan and Qatar will continue to deepen their partnership, not just bilaterally but also within the framework of the Muslim world’s collective response to pressing challenges.
In essence, the meeting underscored Pakistan’s clear stance: condemnation of Israeli aggression, unwavering support for Qatar, and a renewed push for Muslim unity at a time when the region faces extraordinary turmoil.
