Lahore: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has decided to carry out a large-scale reshuffle of its officers as part of an initiative aimed at improving operational efficiency, enhancing accountability, and addressing concerns over performance and governance within the organization.

According to LESCO sources, Chief Executive Ramzan Butt has completed a comprehensive performance review covering the past year. The report will serve as the basis for upcoming appointments and transfers across various operational divisions of the power distribution company.

Sources said that officers found to have demonstrated unsatisfactory performance, including Executive Engineers (XENs), Superintending Engineers (SEs), and Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs), are expected to be removed from their current positions or transferred as part of the restructuring process.

The administrative changes are expected to take place during the second week of July, when the company is likely to issue formal transfer and posting orders for officers across different regions under LESCO’s jurisdiction.

In addition to performance-based transfers, the company has reportedly decided to rotate officers who have remained posted in high-performing or desirable divisions for several years. The move is intended to ensure a more balanced distribution of experienced officials and strengthen administrative oversight in other operational areas.

Under the proposed plan, several SEs and XENs currently serving in Lahore-based divisions are expected to be posted to districts including Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Kasur.

Sources further revealed that the LESCO chief executive is scheduled to submit the company’s losses and recovery report to the board during July. The report will evaluate the performance of various field formations in reducing electricity losses, improving bill recovery, and enhancing overall operational efficiency.

The review comes amid growing concerns regarding financial losses and allegations of misconduct within certain sections of the utility. According to sources, multiple XENs and SDOs have faced allegations of corruption, which have also been taken into consideration during the performance assessment process.

The planned reshuffle is expected to form part of LESCO’s broader efforts to strengthen governance, improve service delivery, and ensure greater transparency within the organization. By linking postings and promotions to measurable performance indicators, the management aims to encourage efficiency, reduce power losses, and improve accountability across the company’s operational network.

While the transfers are expected to be implemented in the coming weeks, LESCO has not yet issued an official notification detailing the names of the officers affected by the changes. The final decisions are expected after the completion of administrative formalities and approval by the relevant authorities.
