Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s security forces have killed eight suspected militants during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in the Balochistan districts of Kharan and Mastung, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Friday.

According to an official statement issued by the ISPR, the operations were carried out on June 25 and June 26 after intelligence reports indicated the presence and movement of militants associated with what the military described as “Fitna al-Hindustan,” a term it uses for militant groups allegedly backed by India.

The first operation took place in Kharan, where security forces tracked the movement of a group of militants based on credible intelligence. Acting swiftly on the information, troops launched a targeted operation against the suspects.

The ISPR stated that the security forces successfully engaged the militants, resulting in the deaths of three alleged terrorists, while several others sustained injuries during the exchange. The military described the operation as timely and effective, saying it disrupted militant activity in the area.

A second intelligence-based operation was conducted on June 26 in the Mastung district after security agencies received information regarding the presence of a suspected suicide bomber preparing for a possible attack.

According to the military, security forces launched a pre-emptive operation to neutralize the threat before any attack could be carried out. During the operation, troops surrounded and targeted the militants’ hideout.

The ISPR said that an intense exchange of fire followed, during which five militants were killed, including the suspected suicide bomber. The military noted that the successful operation prevented what could have been a major terrorist incident.

The armed forces reiterated their commitment to eliminating terrorism and maintaining peace across the country, particularly in Balochistan, where security forces have intensified intelligence-driven operations against militant networks.

The military emphasized that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist infrastructure, prevent planned attacks, and ensure the safety of civilians. It added that security agencies continue to act on actionable intelligence to counter threats posed by militant organizations.

Balochistan has witnessed a series of counterterrorism operations in recent months as security forces seek to curb militant violence and disrupt insurgent activities in the province.

The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to pursue all elements involved in terrorism and will continue operations until militant networks are completely dismantled. It also stressed that the sacrifices and efforts of the armed forces reflect the country’s unwavering resolve to protect national security and preserve peace and stability.
