Kasur: Authorities have uncovered an alleged illegal kidney transplant operation at a private hospital in Kasur during a joint raid conducted by the District Health Authority and local police.

According to officials, the operation was carried out after receiving information about suspected unlawful organ transplantation activities taking place at the medical facility. A team from the District Health Authority, accompanied by police personnel, conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital and discovered evidence indicating an illegal kidney transplant procedure.

During the raid, authorities sealed the private hospital and took two individuals into custody for questioning in connection with the alleged illegal activity. Officials have not yet disclosed the identities of those detained, pending further investigation.

Investigators also recovered a human kidney from the premises, which authorities believe was intended for use in an unauthorized transplant procedure. In addition, a female patient who had reportedly been brought to the hospital for the illegal transplant operation was rescued and taken into protective custody for medical evaluation and further inquiry.

Health officials stated that the case represents a serious violation of medical regulations and laws governing organ transplantation in Pakistan. Organ transplantation is strictly regulated, and any procedure conducted without proper authorization, documentation, donor verification, and approval from relevant authorities is considered illegal.

Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the extent of the operation, identify all individuals involved, and establish whether the hospital had previously engaged in similar activities. Investigators are also examining medical records, equipment, and other evidence collected from the facility.

The District Health Authority emphasized its commitment to eliminating illegal organ trade and ensuring that all medical institutions comply with national healthcare regulations and ethical standards. Officials said strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for violating organ transplant laws.

The incident has raised concerns about illegal organ trafficking networks and the exploitation of vulnerable patients and donors. Health experts have repeatedly warned that unauthorized transplant procedures can pose significant risks to both donors and recipients, including serious medical complications and inadequate post-operative care.

Further investigations are underway, and authorities are expected to provide additional details as the case progresses.
