Surat, India: At least seven people were killed and around 40 others injured after two passenger buses collided in a serious road accident near Bardoli town in Gujarat’s Surat district, according to Indian media reports.
The crash involved two buses operated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) and resulted in significant damage, with one of the vehicles catching fire after the collision.
Accident Occurred Near Bardoli
According to police officials, one of the buses was traveling from Surat to Dhule, while the other was heading toward Surat from Chalisgaon in Maharashtra.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident began when the bus traveling toward Maharashtra collided with a tractor on the highway.
The impact reportedly caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, leading it to veer across the road and collide with the oncoming bus traveling in the opposite direction.
Following the collision, the bus left the highway and entered an unpaved area beside the road.
