The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have summoned former federal minister of communications and the son of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maulana Asad Mehmood, in the case of allegedly making illegal recruitments in the Pakistan Post Office.
The NAB Rawalpindi on Wednesday directed Mehmood to appear before its investigation team at 11:00 AM on November 10.
As per the documents available with the 24News, contrary to the Establishment Division’s permission to allow the recruitment of 3,938 persons in the Post Office, 4,252 recruitments were made.
The NAB notice also identifies recruitments made on 2, 646 vacancies in clear violation of the cabinet committee directives.
It was also mentioned in the notice that despite recommendations were made to hire people on contract, a large number of people were inducted on permanent basis, thus putting an additional financial burden on the post office.
The Bureau made it clear to Mehmood that in the event of non-compliance with its notice, legal action could be taken against him under section 31 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
On the other hand, FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle, Islamabad had also summoned the JUI-F chief’s son in connection with the same case.
The Agency, in its notice sent to Mehmood on October 30, had directed him to appear before its team on November 2.
