Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi has stressed the need for continuous legal education, professional ethics and modern technology to strengthen the country’s justice system.

The CJP said this while talking to a 51-lawyer delegation from Balochistan which called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The delegation was participating in a continuing legal education programme organised by the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA). The lawyers were nominated by the Balochistan Bar Council and represented Quetta, Turbat, Khuzdar, Pishin, Zhob, Chaman, Kalat, Sibi and other districts.

Welcoming the delegation, CJP Afridi appreciated the academy’s efforts to enhance lawyers’ professional capabilities. He urged participants to apply their training in legal practice, maintain high ethical standards and share their knowledge with colleagues.

He described the lawyers as ambassadors of the FJA and the judiciary, emphasising their role in promoting public confidence in the justice system.

The chief justice also briefed the delegation on judicial infrastructure improvements under the Access to Justice Development Fund.

Facilities provided at judicial complexes and bar rooms include solar power systems, internet-connected e-libraries, clean drinking water and dedicated facilities for women.

He said infrastructure development projects had largely been completed, with work remaining at six judicial complexes due to technical issues.

CJP Afridi encouraged lawyers to utilise these facilities and benefit from the FJA’s online training programmes to improve their professional expertise.

Highlighting the importance of technology and institutional resilience, he said courts must continue delivering justice even under challenging circumstances.

He also acknowledged the contributions of lawyers and judicial officers towards upholding the rule of law, stressing that professional training, ethical conduct and technological advancement remain essential to a stronger justice system.
