Pakistan defeated England by one wicket in a dramatic fourth ODI of the ongoing tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday, as Shadab Khan’s sensational century turned the match around and helped the hosts maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament.

Chasing a target of 242 runs, Pakistan recovered from a top-order collapse through Shadab’s unbeaten 113 off 96 balls to reach 243-9 in 47.1 overs, sealing a remarkable victory with 17 balls to spare.

Pakistan appeared to be heading towards defeat after losing wickets at regular intervals, but Shadab held his nerve under pressure and produced a match-winning performance to take the hosts across the finish line.

Pakistan stumble after early wickets

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to field, restricting England to 241 in 46.4 overs.

England’s Ben Duckett top-scored with 105 off 111 balls, including 10 fours and two sixes. Sam Curran contributed 42 off 52 deliveries, while Gus Atkinson remained unbeaten on 36 off 28 balls, hitting three sixes.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi led the bowling attack with four wickets, dismissing Tom Banton, Joe Root, Curran and Henry Crocombe.

Arafat Minhas and Razaullah claimed two wickets each, while Haris Rauf also took a wicket.

In reply, Pakistan suffered an early setback as Fakhar Zaman fell for 10 off 18 balls and Saim Ayub managed six off 12 deliveries. Babar Azam also failed to make a significant contribution, scoring 10 off 12 balls.

Saad Baig provided a brief counterattack with 32 off 22 balls, including seven fours, while Salman Ali Agha scored 26 off 49 deliveries.

However, England continued to strike at regular intervals, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position with only one wicket remaining.

Shadab turns the match around

With Pakistan struggling to keep their chase alive, Shadab produced a remarkable counterattacking innings, striking 13 fours and five sixes to keep his team in contention.

The all-rounder found crucial runs under pressure and continued to attack as England looked to finish off the innings. His unbeaten 113 not only brought Pakistan back into the contest but also guided the hosts to a dramatic last-wicket victory.

Haris Rauf provided support from the other end, remaining unbeaten on seven off 19 balls as the pair completed the chase.

Shadab’s performance proved decisive, transforming what had appeared to be an England victory into another win for Pakistan in the tri-series.

Pakistan maintain winning run

Pakistan opened their tri-series campaign with a 37-run victory over Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Salman Ali Agha scored 107 off 90 balls to help Pakistan post 305 before bowling out Sri Lanka for 268.
