SUKKUR: The Sukkur Bench of the Sindh High Court has adjourned until October 27 the hearing of a petition filed against an alleged raid and action by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at the factory of businessman Agha Saadullah Khan Nasir.
The division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Faisal Kamal Alam and Justice Tasneem Sultana heard the petition. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel, Abdul Baqi Jan Kakar, submitted that on September 16, teams of the FIA from Sukkur and Mardan conducted an operation at the factory located in Sukkur’s Site Area.
According to the counsel, the action was allegedly related to a trademark dispute involving the petitioner’s application for registration of a trademark featuring three horses. He stated that the opposing party had raised objections regarding a trademark featuring two horses and that the matter was already pending before the relevant authorities.
The counsel further contended that despite the matter being under consideration by the relevant institutions, the FIA conducted an operation at the factory and allegedly took licensed weapons, cash and other items into custody. He added that trademark-related cases were also registered against the petitioner.
The petition challenged the alleged FIA action as unlawful and sought protection and appropriate legal relief from the court.
After hearing the arguments, the court issued notices to the relevant officials of the FIA in Sukkur and Mardan and directed them to appear before the court on October 27.
The court subsequently adjourned further hearing of the petition until October 27.
