Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan said on Sunday that work on the construction of a section of the motorway (M6), connecting Sukkur to Hyderabad, would get underway next month.

The minister said that work on the project, which had been pending for the last 30 years, would now get underway.

He expressed the hope that the project, once completed, would promote commercial activities in Sindh and the rest of the country. “The motorway will also increase connectivity between different parts of the country,” he said, adding that President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be the special guests at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the project.

“Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and members of the Sindh cabinet will also be invited to the event,” Abdul Aleem added.
