Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Saturday said that no road in Islamabad had been closed.

In his post on X, he said the purpose of placing containers on roads was to protect the lives and properties of citizens and was in light of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order. “The purpose of placing containers is not to obstruct the movement of people,” he clarified.

Referring to a report aired on Al-Jazeera in which the TV channel had said that containers were meant to block roads, the minister said it was not factual. “The report glossed over judicial and security background to it,” he said, adding that ‘partial reporting’ did not present true picture of the situation.

Tarar said that lies and baseless propaganda could never be the substitute for truth.
