The detention law has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court on Friday issued notices to the Punjab Chief Secretary and other parties, seeking a response within ten days.

Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition filed by citizen Abdullah Malik. Advocate Azhar Siddique appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

Justice Farooq Haider remarked, “This matter was heard earlier by a larger bench and was referred to the Chief Secretary; inquiring did the Chief Secretary not heed the larger bench’s order?”

Petitioner’s lawyer Azhar Sidique replied that the Chief Secretary had done nothing as he took no action.

After hearing the petitioner’s counsel, the court issued notices to the parties and adjourned the hearing for ten days.
