The grand opening ceremony and opening match of the Manghopir Football Tournament 2026, organized by Friends of Karachi and Youth of Karachi, was held today at Manghopir Football Stadium, Garam Chashma, Sheikh Fareed Mohalla.
The event was attended by young football players, football enthusiasts, sports personalities, representatives of the District Football Association and prominent residents of the area.
The ceremony was attended by Founder and Leader of Friends of Karachi and Youth of Karachi Muhammad Faizan Rawat, Manghopir Town Chairman Haji Nawaz Brohi, Patron-in-Chief Younis Mengal, sports organizers Shehzad Rind and Sajid Rind, along with other distinguished personalities.
The Manghopir Football Stadium came alive with the enthusiasm of young players and the large presence of football fans. During the opening match, the players displayed excellent skills and demonstrated their talent, while the spectators enthusiastically encouraged and supported the teams.
Distinguished representatives of the District Football Association also participated in the ceremony. They welcomed the successful organization of the Manghopir Football Tournament 2026 and appreciated the efforts being made to promote football and other sports in Manghopir.
The representatives of the District Football Association also expressed their special appreciation to Founder and Leader of Friends of Karachi and Youth of Karachi Muhammad Faizan Rawat, saying that his efforts to provide sporting opportunities to young people, highlight local talent and promote football activities in Manghopir were commendable.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Faizan Rawat, Founder and Leader of Friends of Karachi and Youth of Karachi, said that the day was a moment of great happiness and pride. He said that seeing happiness, enthusiasm and passion for sports on the faces of young people at the Manghopir ground had further strengthened his belief that the youth of Karachi were second to none in terms of talent and potential.
Muhammad Faizan Rawat said that the fundamental objective of Friends of Karachi and Youth of Karachi was to provide young people with opportunities to participate in positive, healthy and constructive activities. He said they wanted young people to channel their energies into sports, develop their abilities and bring pride to their communities, city and country.
He said that efforts were being made to bring children and young people away from excessive mobile phone and screen use and back to sports grounds, so that they could spend their time in physical activities, social interaction and developing their abilities. He expressed the hope that sports grounds across Karachi would once again become vibrant with the participation of children and young people.
Muhammad Faizan Rawat said that their activities would not remain limited to football. Efforts would also be made to promote hockey, cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton and other sports. The objective, he said, was to provide children and young people with opportunities to participate in different sports according to their interests, encourage local talent and strengthen the culture of sports in Karachi.
He said football was not merely a sport; it also taught teamwork, discipline, endurance, hard work and leadership. When sports grounds were active, positive opportunities would be created for young people and healthy activities would be promoted in society.
Muhammad Faizan Rawat said that the youth of Manghopir possessed immense talent and potential. He said efforts were being made to provide this talent with appropriate platforms and opportunities so that young people could demonstrate their abilities and move forward.
He further said that their goal was not simply to organize a single tournament, but to activate sports grounds across different areas of Karachi, connect young people with positive activities and provide them with opportunities to progress. Friends of Karachi and Youth of Karachi would continue its efforts towards achieving this objective.
Muhammad Faizan Rawat said that they were also working on organizing sports and healthy recreational activities for women. He said efforts were being made to provide women with opportunities to participate in sports in a safe, respectful and supportive environment so that they could also demonstrate their abilities to the fullest.
He said that plans were also being developed for people aged over 50, particularly senior citizens aged 60 and above, to organize indoor games and recreational gatherings according to their interests and convenience. These activities could include carrom, chess, Ludo and other board games, providing senior citizens with opportunities to spend time in a pleasant environment, interact with one another and participate in social activities.
Muhammad Faizan Rawat said the objective was to connect people of all age groups—including youth, women and senior citizens—with positive, healthy and constructive activities. He said that a healthy society required people of every age to have opportunities to express their abilities and participate in positive activities.
Muhammad Faizan Rawat thanked all the guests who attended the opening ceremony, representatives of the District Football Association, players, teams, organizers, sports organizers, football fans and, in particular, the people of Manghopir.
He said that the large public participation and enthusiasm of the youth demonstrated that the citizens of Karachi wanted to promote sports and positive activities.
He said that what began in Manghopir today was not merely a football tournament, but the beginning of a new journey towards fulfilling the dreams and potential of young people and building a brighter future for them.
With the successful opening ceremony and opening match, the Manghopir Football Tournament 2026 has officially commenced, with various teams participating in the tournament with great enthusiasm.
