LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former prime minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has been provided daily-use items in jail, the Lahore High Court was told on Monday.
Assistant Advocate General Punjab Farrukh Khan Lodhi, appearing on behalf of the provincial government, told the court that Aleema had been provided a bedsheet, blanket, shoes, six suits, a black bag, towel, face wash, toothbrush, skincare kit and shawl.
He submitted that a report on behalf of the Punjab home secretary during the hearing of a petition seeking medical facilities and permission for meetings with Aleema in jail.
Aleema Khan was detained by Lahore police on September 20. Later, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz issued a 30-day detention order against Aleema Khan and PTI’s Muhammad Aamir under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance.
Aleema’s lawyers requested the court to allow meetings with her.
The court disposed of the petition concerning the provision of facilities and directed the Punjab home secretary to decide the request for permission to meet Aleema Khan in accordance with the law.
Suleman Raja, Maqsood Butter, Rana Mudassar and other lawyers appeared on behalf of Aleema Khan.
Separately, the court heard a petition concerning Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, who, according to her lawyers, has been under detention for nine days.
The petition said that Uzma had not been allowed to meet her lawyers or family members and had not been provided medical facilities in jail.
The petition sought directions for allowing meetings with lawyers and family members and ensuring medical treatment for Uzma.
