Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Philemon Yang, president of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York and discussed matters of mutual interest, the Foreign Office said.
Dar congratulated Yang on his presidency of the General Assembly and assured him of Pakistan’s support and constructive cooperation.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in addressing international challenges.
The deputy prime minister expressed confidence in Yang’s leadership and assured him of Pakistan’s continued cooperation and active engagement in advancing the work of the General Assembly.
The two sides also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed cooperation at the United Nations.
Yang served as president of the 79th UN General Assembly session, which ran from September 2024 to September 2025.
