The federal government has approved the deployment of Rangers in Islamabad and Punjab.
An additional force of 3,000 Rangers personnel will be deployed in Islamabad.
Rangers will also be deployed across various districts of Punjab.
The deployment was authorized following requests from the Punjab Home Department and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad.
The Punjab Home Department had also requested the deployment of the Army alongside the Rangers.
Rangers’ contingents will perform security duties in the Punjab districts of Attock, Jhelum, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
Rangers have been authorized to take appropriate action in self-defence in the event of any threat or violent activity while on duty.
