HYDERABAD: Encouraging the younger generation to participate in sports is essential to protect them from drug abuse and other social evils, as sports help keep young people engaged in healthy and constructive activities. This was stated by Haji Muhammad Yasin Arain, founder and general secretary of the Bhai Khan Welfare Association.
He was speaking as the chief guest at an event organized by the Ali Taekwondo Academy at its Pakka Qila Centre in Hyderabad to mark Defence Day.
The event was attended by District Sports Officer Maryam Karo, Owais, Ali Raza, Senior Master Hussain Bakhsh, Ali Taekwondo Academy Chief Instructor Arif Ali Kazmi and the organization’s president, Shahid Khan. A large number of taekwondo athletes also participated in the ceremony.
On the occasion, taekwondo players demonstrated their skills through impressive performances, including Kata and breaking techniques. Their demonstrations were appreciated by the guests and participants, who encouraged the young athletes to continue working hard and developing their abilities.
Addressing the gathering, Haji Muhammad Yasin Arain said that providing children with opportunities to participate in sports alongside education was essential for building a healthy and positive society.
He said there was no shortage of sporting talent in Hyderabad and that the real need was to encourage young people and provide them with opportunities to develop their skills.
“If our children receive proper training, guidance and encouragement, they can excel in their chosen fields and bring pride to the country and the nation,” he said.
He emphasized that sports could play an important role in keeping young people away from drugs and other harmful activities. According to him, participation in sports promotes discipline, confidence, physical fitness and a positive attitude among young people.
He said community organizations, sports academies and educational institutions should work together to provide young people with constructive opportunities and help them develop their abilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali Taekwondo Academy Chief Instructor Arif Ali Kazmi welcomed all the guests and highlighted the recent achievements of the academy’s athletes.
Kazmi said that the academy’s players had delivered an outstanding performance at the GM Syed Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi Taekwondo Cup, recently held in Karachi.
According to him, the academy’s athletes won a total of 13 medals, including five gold, two silver and six bronze medals.
He described the achievement as a matter of pride for Hyderabad and said it reflected the hard work, dedication and determination of the young athletes.
Kazmi said the players had continued to demonstrate their potential in competitive events and expressed hope that they would achieve further success at provincial, national and international levels.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the achievements of the young taekwondo players.
Later, Haji Muhammad Yasin Arain distributed medals and certificates among the athletes in recognition of their performances.
The participants also raised patriotic slogans, including “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pak Army Zindabad.”
