A westerly weather system has brought light to moderate rain in Karachi, with the Meteorological Department forecasting more rainfall in the city.

Light rain and drizzle have been reported since night in several areas, including Quaidabad, Malir, Safoora Chowrangi, Scheme 33, Nazimabad, Saddar, Metroville, SITE, Habib Bank Chowrangi and other areas.

The Meteorological Department has stated that rain is expected in various parts of the city over the next few hours.

Light to moderate rainfall is likely across most areas, while hailstorms may occur at isolated locations.

Deputy Mayor Salman Murad announced that in anticipation of further rainfall — forecast to continue through April 4 — local government staff holidays have been canceled and all departments placed on high alert.

Dewatering pumps have been deployed across vulnerable areas, and municipal teams are stationed along major highways and critical junctions to respond to emergencies.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide weather alert, warning of strong winds, heavy rain, and possible hail across most parts of the province until April 4.

Citizens are urged to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and contact emergency services immediately if needed.
