ISLAMABAD: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has announced the result of the CSS 2026 written examination, with only 476 candidates qualifying out of 17,351 candidates who appeared in the competitive examination.
According to the FPSC, the overall pass percentage in the CSS 2026 written examination remained at just 2.74 percent, highlighting the highly competitive nature of the examination and the stringent standards applied during the selection process.
A total of 17,351 candidates appeared in the written portion of the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination. Of these, only 476 candidates successfully cleared the written examination and have qualified to proceed to the next stages of the recruitment process.
The successful candidates include 239 men and 237 women, showing an almost equal gender distribution among those who cleared the written examination.
The CSS examination is conducted by the FPSC to select candidates for various occupational groups and services of the federal government. Thousands of graduates and qualified candidates from across Pakistan appear in the examination every year, making it one of the country’s most competitive examinations.
The announcement of the written result marks the completion of an important stage in the CSS selection process. Candidates who have qualified will now proceed to further stages, which include medical and psychological assessments followed by the viva voce, or oral examination.
The FPSC stated that the schedule for the medical examination, psychological assessment and viva voce of successful candidates would be announced soon. Candidates are expected to follow the commission’s official instructions and schedule once the details are formally issued.
The exceptionally low pass rate of 2.74 percent once again demonstrates the difficulty of the CSS examination. Candidates are required to demonstrate strong analytical, writing, general knowledge and subject-specific abilities in the written examination before being considered for subsequent stages.
The written examination is considered a major screening stage because only candidates who meet the required standards are allowed to proceed further. Those who qualify must then undergo additional assessments before the final selection and allocation process.
The nearly equal number of male and female successful candidates was also notable in the latest result. Of the 476 candidates who cleared the written examination, 239 were men while 237 were women, representing a difference of only two candidates.
