MIRPURKHAS: Residents of Kantiwo village in Tharparkar have alleged that influential individuals in the area are using different tactics to harass them and force them to leave their village in an attempt to take possession of their land.
The allegations were made by Gulab Bheel and Pancho Bheel, residents of Kantiwo in Tharparkar, who travelled to Mirpurkhas and spoke to journalists about what they described as continued harassment, intimidation and alleged attempts to illegally occupy their property.
Speaking to the media, the two residents alleged that several influential people from the area, including Channo Bheel, Bhaghro, Jano, Budho Bheel Sajjan, Dilawar Nehri, Razaq Nehri, Qurban and Yaro Nehri, among others, were allegedly involved in harassing them through various means.
According to Gulab Bheel and Pancho Bheel, the accused individuals were allegedly attempting to force their family out of the village so that they could take possession of approximately 100 acres of their land.
The complainants said they had been subjected to repeated intimidation and threats, including what they described as threats to their lives. They alleged that despite their repeated efforts to seek protection and justice, they had been unable to receive adequate assistance from the authorities.
The residents further alleged that the local police were siding with the influential people involved in the dispute. They claimed that their complaints were not being properly heard and that they were being left without effective legal protection.
“We have been made to feel unsafe in our own village,” the complainants said, alleging that the situation had made their lives extremely difficult. They appealed to the relevant authorities to intervene immediately and ensure their safety.
The two men also alleged that they were being blamed whenever livestock in the area died. They claimed that certain people were deliberately creating allegations against them and using such incidents as another means of putting pressure on their family.
According to the complainants, the situation recently escalated when a group of people allegedly attacked their house. They claimed that women in their family were subjected to physical violence during the incident and were allegedly humiliated.
They said the alleged attack had further increased fear among family members and that they were concerned about their safety if the situation continued unchecked.
Gulab Bheel and Pancho Bheel maintained that the alleged actions of the influential individuals had made their lives unbearable. They said their family was facing constant pressure and feared that they could ultimately be deprived of their land if the authorities failed to intervene.
The complainants appealed to senior government officials, police authorities and other relevant departments to take notice of the alleged harassment and land-grabbing attempt. They demanded that an impartial investigation be conducted into the allegations and that legal action be taken against anyone found responsible.
They also requested that authorities provide protection to their family and ensure that no one is allowed to forcibly evict them or interfere with their property until the dispute is resolved according to law.
The residents emphasized that they wanted justice through legal and constitutional channels and urged the authorities to hear their grievances without discrimination.
They called upon the concerned officials to investigate the alleged attack on their home, the reported threats and the broader dispute over their land. They further demanded that police officials be directed to provide protection and ensure that their complaints are formally registered and investigated.
The allegations made by Gulab Bheel and Pancho Bheel could not independently be verified at the time of filing this report. The individuals named in the allegations have also not been quoted in response to the claims.
The complainants said they hoped that the authorities would take immediate notice of the matter before the dispute escalated further. They appealed for a peaceful resolution of the issue and for protection of their life, property and family members.
They reiterated their demand that the alleged harassment and attempt to take control of their approximately 100 acres of land be investigated and that those responsible, if found guilty, be dealt with according to the law.
