State Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal Bin Saqib said Pakistan is ready to embrace future technologies and the digital economy.
Addressing the Bitcoin Asia Conference in Hong Kong, he said Pakistan has made significant progress in understanding emerging financial and technological developments.
Bilal said Pakistan established a regulatory framework for virtual assets in less than six months, spending around $200,000 on its development and implementation. He added that nearly 92% of the approved budget remained unused.
He clarified that Pakistan’s strategy is not simply to purchase large amounts of Bitcoin for a strategic reserve, but to prepare the country for the evolving global financial system and future digital economy.
