Impact of different bio pesticides on red cotton bug (Dysdercus cingulatus) Herrich Z-Schaeffer on cotton crop

  • The present study on “Impact with application of different bio pesticides on red cotton bug on cotton crop” was conduct in the experimental area field of Plant Protection Research Institute, Agriculture Research Center, Tandojam using RCBD during the growing kharif season of 2023. Three cotton verities (Sindh 1, Koonj, and Bakhtawar) were cultivated for this research work for this research purpose 25 plants more randomly selected and tagged for observation. Impact of temperature (°C) and relative humidity (%) were also examined on the population of red cotton bug. The tether aspect of this research study was impact of different bio-pesticides on the reduction of red cotton bug different bio-pesticides such as neem oil, castor oil and mustard oil were used at different interval viz: 24, 48, 72, 96 hours, one week and 15 days. The result further showed that the after 24 hours applied applications neem oil showed highest mean reduction 29.82±0.68, followed by, castor oil with mean 27.74±1.20. However, the mustard oil showed lower reduction in red cotton bug population with mean 25.16±1.30. After 48 hours of application, neem oil the mean reduction percentage was found to be 28.33±0.49. The Castor oil resulting in a mean reduction percentage of 26.58±0.60. However, the mustard oil achieving a mean reduction percentage of 24.95±0.44. After 72 hours of application, neem oil resulting in a mean reduction percentage of 25.57±0.63. The castor oil resulted reduction mean percentage of 23.79±0.64. Mustard oil mean reduction percentage of 22.03±0.48. After 96 hours the Neem oil resulting in a mean reduction percentage of 24.26±0.59. The Castor oil mean reduction percentage of 22.43±0.71. The mustard oil reduction percentage of 20.33±0.59. After one week of application the neem oil was applied and the reduction percentage of 21.58±0.73. Castor oil mean reduction percentage of 19.40±0.69. The use of mustard oil mean reduction percentage of 17.87±1.04. After fifteen days neem oil was applied mean reduction percentage of 19.06±1.24. The castor oil reduction percentage of 15.63±1.10. The mustard oil the mean reduction percentage of 12.21±1.27.
