Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has said that the family of Mir Raza will have to trust the judicial inquiry into the case, otherwise allegations and counter-allegations will continue.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Wahab said the Sindh chief minister could not personally conduct the investigation, which was why the government had decided to establish a judicial commission to investigate the Mir Raza case.
He said the judicial commission would prepare its report within 30 days and that action would be taken wherever negligence or wrongdoing was found during the investigation.
According to Wahab, the police and other investigative agencies would assist the judicial commission in carrying out its work.
The Karachi mayor said the government’s priority was to satisfy Mir Raza’s family by ensuring that the investigation was conducted properly and transparently.
He said any shortcomings or negligence that occurred during the case should be brought before the public.
Wahab explained that Mir Raza’s family did not have confidence in government representatives, which was why the government had decided to have the matter investigated through the judiciary.
He urged the family to place their trust in the judicial commission and allow the investigation to proceed.
Wahab said that the family, their lawyer and the government all wanted a proper investigation into the matter.
He added that the purpose of establishing the judicial commission was to determine the facts and identify any negligence or failures during the handling of the case.
The mayor said that if any wrongdoing was established, those responsible would face action.
He stressed that a transparent investigation was necessary to address the concerns of the family and bring an end to the continuing allegations surrounding the case.
Wahab maintained that the judicial commission would provide an independent forum for examining the circumstances of the case and determining whether any officials or institutions had failed in their responsibilities.
The government hopes that the commission’s findings within the 30-day period will help clarify the facts and address the concerns raised by Mir Raza’s family.
