Islamabad: State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry has criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that the party has not expressed relief or gratitude since Imran Khan was declared healthy.
Speaking to Geo News at Parliament House, Talal Chaudhry said sarcastically that no one in PTI had thanked God since Imran Khan was found to be in good health. Instead, he claimed, PTI leaders appeared upset and angry and were talking about taking revenge on the government.
Talal Chaudhry said the issue was that Imran Khan had been asked to receive medical treatment, and treatment was meant for someone who was actually ill.
He argued that if a person was not seriously ill but insisted on being treated at a particular hospital, there could be a political motive behind the demand. He alleged that the illness could be used as an excuse to seek an NRO or political relief.
The state minister rejected speculation about any agreement or concession involving Imran Khan. He said there was no “deal” or “relaxation” and described such claims as stories being created by PTI.
Comments on Fazlur Rehman
Speaking about Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Talal Chaudhry described him as a senior politician and an “opposition specialist.”
He said it was positive if Fazlur Rehman was helping opposition parties understand how to play an effective role as an opposition.
Pakistan’s Role in US-Iran Conflict
Talal Chaudhry also discussed Pakistan’s diplomatic role in the US-Iran conflict.
He claimed that Pakistan had played an important role in efforts to achieve a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and that the international community had recognized Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts.
According to him, Pakistan’s diplomacy was currently at its peak and the country had not seen such a strong position on the diplomatic front since independence.
Talal Chaudhry attributed this diplomatic standing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
He expressed hope that Field Marshal Munir’s recent visit to Iran would prove successful and contribute to reducing tensions, saying that a successful outcome would provide relief to the wider world.
