Ameer Muqam, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, has called for strict action against members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following the closure of a motorway that reportedly caused significant inconvenience to the public.
In his statement, Ameer Muqam said that while traveling from Swat to Islamabad, he witnessed families, children, women, and patients stranded on the road due to the blockage. He described the situation as deeply troubling, stating that ordinary citizens were being forced to endure unnecessary hardship.
The minister emphasized that the state must take action, arguing that the public should not suffer because of political protests or activities. According to him, the motorway closure led to serious disruptions, with many people missing their flights and others unable to reach hospitals for urgent medical treatment. He stressed that such actions amount to injustice toward law-abiding citizens who have no connection to political disputes.
Ameer Muqam urged the Inspector General of Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to register First Information Reports (FIRs) against those responsible for causing public inconvenience. He specifically called for action against PTI workers involved in the protest activities that resulted in the road closure.
He further stated that if there are legal matters concerning any political leader, those cases should be fought in courts rather than by disrupting public life. “Let the prisoner’s case be contested in the courts,” he remarked, questioning why ordinary people should bear the consequences of political conflicts.
