During the academic year 2021–2022, the Sindh Government appointed Subject Specialist Interns (SSI). For this purpose, proper Selection Committees were constituted, with the concerned Director of Education appointed as Chairperson. Following thorough scrutiny, merit-based selection, and interviews, approximately 1,200 Subject Specialist Interns were appointed in government higher secondary schools across Sindh.

These appointments were made at a time when recruitment through the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) was suspended. The Subject Specialist Interns continued to provide teaching services in government higher secondary schools for 28 consecutive months and played an important role in the education of students.

At present, approximately 250 affected Subject Specialist Interns have been continuously engaged in peaceful protests and a struggle for their legitimate rights for the past two years. We demand that the Sindh Government immediately reinstate experienced Subject Specialist Interns against vacant positions in government higher secondary schools so that they can resume their teaching responsibilities.

It is highly unfortunate that despite budgets reportedly being allocated for Subject Specialist Interns in the financial years 2024–25 and 2025–26, they have not yet been reinstated. The failure to take a reinstatement decision despite the allocation of funds has left the affected interns facing severe uncertainty and financial difficulties.

We respectfully appeal to the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Education Minister to take immediate notice of our legitimate demand. Keeping in view the peaceful struggle that has continued for the past two years, an empowered committee should be constituted immediately to resolve the issue of Subject Specialist Interns and practical steps should be taken for their reinstatement against existing vacant positions.

Our demand is clear:

Experienced Subject Specialist Interns (SSI) should be immediately reinstated against vacant positions in government higher secondary schools.

Our right, our reinstatement — Reinstate SSI immediately!
