Felicitating the nation on the 79th Independence Day, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Friday paid rich tributes to Father of the National Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, his comrades and those millions of martyrs who laid down their lives for the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent.

In his message, the minister said that not only he extolled those whose sacrifices led to the creation of Pakistan, but also those who laid down their lives for the country’s defence and against terrorism.

He said that the country was presently confronted with internal and external challenges, and in order to deal with these challenges, there was a need to get united.

He stressed the need for preferring national interests to individual interests.

Naqvi went on to say that no country was as beautiful and rich in resources as was Pakistan. “However, everybody has preferred to forget Pakistan and promote his or her individual interests,” he lamented.

The minister said that the time had come that the entire nation got united and thought only about the country. “The independence day demands that we learn from our past mistakes and strive to build a better future for our generations.”
