ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to maintain the existing prices of petroleum products for August 11, according to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division.
Under the notification, there will be no change in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel, and the existing rates will remain applicable.
The price of high-speed diesel has been maintained at Rs380.86 per litre, while the price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs327.62 per litre.
The decision means consumers will continue to pay the same rates for the two major petroleum products, at least for the period covered by the latest notification.
Petroleum prices are closely watched across Pakistan because changes in fuel rates can have a direct impact on transportation costs, electricity generation, industrial operations and the prices of everyday goods.
Diesel is particularly important for the country’s freight and public transportation sectors, while petrol is widely used by private vehicles, motorcycles and other forms of transport. Maintaining the existing prices therefore provides short-term stability for consumers and businesses.
The decision comes amid continued attention to international oil prices, exchange-rate movements and other factors that influence the cost of petroleum products in Pakistan.
The Petroleum Division periodically reviews fuel prices based on relevant market conditions and applicable pricing mechanisms. The government subsequently announces whether prices will be increased, reduced or maintained.
For August 11, authorities have opted to retain the existing rates, with petrol remaining at Rs327.62 per litre and diesel at Rs380.86 per litre.
The unchanged prices are also significant for the country’s broader supply chain, as higher fuel costs can increase transportation expenses and potentially put upward pressure on the prices of food and other essential commodities.
For now, consumers and transport operators will continue to purchase petrol and diesel at the existing rates, while the next pricing review will determine whether there will be any change in the future.
The government has not announced any reduction or increase in the prices under the latest notification, keeping the two major petroleum products at their existing levels.
