BHRIYA CITY (Report: Muhammad Sabun Junejo): A 25-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after reportedly becoming distressed over poverty and financial difficulties, leaving his family devastated.
The incident took place in Hambar Wah village near Bhriya City, where the young man, identified as Allah Obhayo alias Karo Kalhoro, allegedly hanged himself inside his home.
According to family members, the incident occurred after the young man reportedly became upset over a financial dispute. Upon discovering him, relatives immediately took him to Bhriya City Hospital, where doctors examined him and confirmed that he had died.
Speaking to reporters, the deceased’s father, Muhammad Hassan Kalhoro, and cousin Sajjad Ali Kalhoro said that Allah Obhayo worked as a labourer in date-palm orchards in Khairpur.
They said the young man had recently taken leave from work and returned home a few days before the incident.
According to the family, some workers who were working alongside him had given him approximately Rs15,000 to send the money to their homes. The family said the money was subsequently spent.
The relatives said that when the workers later asked him to return the money, an argument reportedly broke out at home over the financial matter.
According to the family, the young man became angry following the dispute and locked himself inside a room. He allegedly hanged himself inside the room.
When relatives heard cries and realized that something was wrong, they reportedly broke open the door and found him inside. They immediately removed him and transported him to Bhriya City Hospital in a rickshaw.
Doctors at the hospital later confirmed that he had died.
The family further said that the deceased was unmarried and had not yet started his own family.
The incident left the household in deep distress. When the young man’s body was brought back to the village after completion of the necessary legal procedures, a scene of mourning prevailed among relatives and neighbours.
The deceased’s mother reportedly suffered repeated episodes of unconsciousness after learning of her son’s death, while other family members were also overcome with grief.
Meanwhile, Bhriya City police reached the hospital following the incident and recorded statements from the deceased’s relatives.
Police said that the necessary legal formalities were completed before the body was handed over to the family. The family subsequently transported the body to their village for burial.
Police officials said that further investigation into the incident was underway. Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the death and verify the information provided by the family.
The incident has once again highlighted the severe emotional and financial pressures that can affect families facing poverty and economic hardship. However, the exact circumstances behind the young man’s death will be determined through the ongoing police investigation.
Authorities have not indicated any other confirmed cause or motive beyond the circumstances described by the family. Further findings are expected as the investigation continues.
