PATTOKI: A 20-year-old man was killed after being struck by a train while crossing a railway track near Pattoki Railway Station.
According to rescue officials, the young man was crossing the railway track while wearing hands-free earphones. As a result, he reportedly failed to hear or notice the approaching train.
The train hit the young man while he was crossing the track, killing him on the spot.
Rescue personnel reached the scene following the incident and recovered the body of the deceased.
The body was handed over to the relevant authorities for completion of the necessary legal and medico-legal procedures.
Rescue officials urged pedestrians to exercise extreme caution while crossing railway tracks and avoid using earphones or other devices that can prevent them from hearing approaching trains.
The incident highlights the serious risks associated with crossing railway tracks without ensuring that the route is clear, particularly while using headphones or hands-free devices that can block surrounding sounds.
