Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik says Turkish Petroleum is preparing to begin offshore drilling in Pakistani waters, which he believes will pave the way for significant investment in the country.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that Turkish Petroleum is set to begin offshore drilling activities in Pakistan’s waters, following which the country is expected to attract a major investment.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, the federal minister said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believes in practical politics and delivering tangible results for the country.
He praised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, saying that he had made Pakistan a nuclear power and strengthened the country’s defense capabilities, making it difficult for any external power to threaten the country.
Pakistan’s Role in Regional Peace
Ali Pervaiz Malik said that during the Iran-US conflict, Pakistan emerged as a guarantor of peace and security in the region.
He said the country had played an important role in maintaining regional stability during a difficult period. According to him, the people of Pakistan could take pride in the joint agreement reached in Makkah.
The federal minister said that the economic strength of Saudi Arabia, the development achieved by Türkiye, and Pakistan’s defense capabilities could collectively play an important role in strengthening cooperation among the countries.
He described these developments as important for the wider region and said Pakistan had an important role to play in promoting peace, stability and cooperation.
Pakistan’s Armed Forces Praised
The petroleum minister also praised the capabilities and expertise of Pakistan’s armed forces.
He said the entire world had witnessed the professionalism, skills and capabilities of Pakistan’s military.
According to Ali Pervaiz Malik, the country’s security and defense capabilities have played an important role in protecting national interests, particularly during periods of regional tension.
He said Pakistan had faced considerable economic challenges during the Iran-US conflict. However, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had taken difficult decisions to steer the country toward economic development.
The minister said that after dealing with immediate challenges, Pakistan’s next objective should be achieving greater success on the economic front.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening the national economy and attracting investment to create opportunities for sustainable growth.

The minister contrasted Pakistan’s situation with conditions in neighboring countries, claiming that in some neighboring countries people were being provided only two litres of petrol after showing their national identity cards.
He said maintaining uninterrupted supplies was itself a significant challenge during periods of regional uncertainty and international tensions.
The government, he added, had continued efforts to ensure that petroleum products remained available to consumers despite difficult circumstances.
