Quetta: In a dramatic incident, a rickshaw driver in Quetta set his vehicle on fire, claiming it was in protest against alleged extortion by a police officer.

However, SP Traffic Asim Shah denied the driver’s claim of being asked for a bribe. He clarified that the police were acting under the orders of the Quetta Commissioner to confiscate illegal loader rickshaws operating in the city.

Following the incident, the driver was taken to the police station for further investigation. The authorities are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the rickshaw being set ablaze and have stated that legal action will be taken as necessary.

This event highlights ongoing tension in Quetta regarding enforcement actions against unauthorized vehicles, as authorities attempt to regulate traffic while ensuring public compliance with city transport regulations.
