Karachi (Bureau Report): The previous criminal record of a suspect who was arrested in an injured condition following a police encounter near Sunday Bazaar, Block 1, has been obtained by Boot Basin Police.
According to police, the suspect was arrested during a patrol operation last night after an alleged encounter near Sunday Bazaar in Block 1. The arrested suspect was identified as Muhammad Talha alias Ali, son of Muhammad Rehan.
Police said a pistol with rounds and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspect’s possession. The motorcycle was allegedly snatched from the jurisdiction of Frere Police Station, and a case regarding the incident had already been registered there.
According to police, the arrested suspect is a habitual offender who had previously been arrested in connection with various criminal cases and had also served time in jail.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to involvement in several street crime incidents. Police further stated that the investigation revealed the suspect was allegedly involved in a robbery near Power House, where a mother and her son were reportedly robbed at gunpoint in recent days.
Police said the suspect also allegedly confessed during interrogation to his involvement in the incident.
Various reports regarding the incident had also been circulating on social media. Fresh cases have been registered against the arrested suspect at Boot Basin Police Station, while further investigation is underway.
Police are also investigating the suspect’s possible involvement in other criminal incidents.
