UMERKOT A ceremony was organized at the Press Club Hall in Umerkot to mark the 102nd birth anniversary of Comrade Taj Muhammad Abro.
The event was organized with the cooperation of Rahimdani Academy and the Pakistan Zindabad Basic Organization Pakistan Ladies Wing.
The ceremony paid tribute to Comrade Taj Muhammad Abro for his social, political, journalistic, and literary services. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony to mark his birth anniversary.
The ceremony was chaired by prominent social figure and Rahimdani Academy President Rasool Bakhsh Rahimdani, while Pakistan Zindabad Basic Organization Pakistan Vice Chairperson for Umerkot Jameelan Khoso attended as the chief guest.
Umerkot Press Club President Ghulam Muhammad Kumbhar was the guest of honour. Journalists, social workers, women, and people from different walks of life attended the event in large numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, Rasool Bakhsh Rahimdani described Comrade Taj Muhammad Abro as an outstanding personality of Sindh who served as a politician, judge, journalist, writer, and social worker.
He said Abro raised his voice against oppressive systems throughout his life and always supported poor, oppressed, and underprivileged communities.
Rahimdani said that Abro dedicated his life to serving the people and the country and that his services continue to inspire his supporters. He also highlighted the prominent role of Abro’s son, Mir Nadir Ali Abro, in the fields of law and bureaucracy.
Jameelan Khoso said Comrade Taj Muhammad Abro was an inspiration for people from all sections of society, including women. She noted that he served as a judge, journalist, and writer and was also among the founding members of the Sindhi Adabi Board.
She said Abro consistently raised his voice for the rights of oppressed people, poor communities, and farmers.
Ghulam Muhammad Kumbhar described Abro as a true supporter of the poor and oppressed farmers of Sindh. He said Abro was courageous, fearless, principled, and patriotic.
Kumbhar added that Abro served humanity through his writing, judicial position, and social work.
Other journalists and social workers also spoke at the ceremony and paid tribute to his national, social, journalistic, and literary contributions.
Rasool Bakhsh Rahimdani, Ghulam Muhammad Kumbhar, and Jameelan Khoso also presented the “Comrade Taj Muhammad Abro Best Award 2026” during the ceremony.
Several journalists, social workers, and community members attended the event, including Sajjad Ali Sheikh, Waqas Yousafzai, Muhammad Aslam Mehr, Ghulam Mustafa Mehr, Savai Mal Rakesar, Suraj Kumar Malhi, Zahid Ahmed Khan, Shahzaib Dil, and Alfaqrah Muhammad Rahim Mehr.
The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for the security, prosperity, and stability of Pakistan.
Participants also expressed their determination to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day with full enthusiasm and national spirit.
