Two people, including a policeman, sustained minor injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near a police mobile close to Pir Zakori Bridge on GT Road in Peshawar’s Shawar area on Sunday, according to Rescue 1122 and police officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rescue 1122 said its medical and emergency teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the blast. The injured were provided first aid before being shifted to a nearby hospital by police for further treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the explosion, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in nearby localities to trace those responsible for the attack, according to police sources. Authorities are also investigating the nature of the blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi strongly condemned the explosion and expressed his best wishes for the speedy recovery of the two injured police personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The governor sought an immediate report on the incident from the concerned authorities and said that elements hostile to peace would not succeed in their attempts to destabilise the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He paid tribute to the sacrifices rendered by the police, law enforcement agencies and security forces in the fight against terrorism, saying the nation would always remember their services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
