SUKKUR:<\/strong> Water levels in the Indus River<\/strong> have continued to rise, with a moderate flood<\/strong> persisting at Guddu Barrage<\/strong> and a low-level flood<\/strong> continuing at Sukkur Barrage<\/strong>, according to the Irrigation Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rising river levels have inundated several low-lying katcha (riverine)<\/strong> areas connected to both barrages, prompting concern among local residents and authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to irrigation officials, river inflows increased significantly over the past 24 hours. At Guddu Barrage<\/strong>, inflow rose by approximately 40,000 cusecs<\/strong>, while Sukkur Barrage<\/strong> recorded an increase of around 35,000 cusecs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest hydrological data showed that Guddu Barrage<\/strong> received an inflow of 426,504 cusecs<\/strong>, with an outflow of 386,860 cusecs<\/strong>, keeping the barrage at a moderate flood level<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Sukkur Barrage<\/strong>, the inflow was recorded at 314,833 cusecs<\/strong>, while the outflow stood at 257,903 cusecs<\/strong>, where a low-level flood<\/strong> remains in effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Kotri Barrage<\/strong> recorded an inflow of 59,939 cusecs<\/strong> and an outflow of 16,059 cusecs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Irrigation authorities said they are continuously monitoring the hydrological situation across the Indus River system. Based on preliminary assessments, officials expect a slight decline in water levels at Guddu Barrage over the next 24 hours<\/strong>, although moderate flooding is likely to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, authorities anticipate that water levels at Sukkur Barrage will gradually begin to recede over the next 48 to 72 hours<\/strong>, provided upstream conditions remain stable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department said floodwaters have already entered several riverine areas downstream of Guddu and Sukkur barrages<\/strong>, affecting agricultural land, grazing fields, and other low-lying areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relevant government departments have been directed to remain on high alert and maintain close surveillance of the evolving flood situation to respond promptly to any emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
