Hyderabad:<\/em> A certificate distribution ceremony was held for participants who successfully completed the Sindhi Language Learning Course organised by the Sindhi Language Authority. Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Sindhi Language Authority, Dr Sher Maharani<\/em>, said that every teacher who teaches Sindhi should complete the Sindhi Language Learning Course, as it equips educators with the fundamental principles of the language, including grammar and sentence structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that if primary school teachers have a strong command of the language, they can provide students with a solid educational foundation. Dr Maharani added that the Authority aims to promote and preserve the Sindhi language through learning programmes and has established language centres in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Islamabad and four additional divisional headquarters. He also said that, following the directions of Sindh’s Minister for Culture, Zulfiqar Ali Shah, efforts are underway to expand these centres to the district level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renowned researcher Dr Mansoor Thalho<\/em>, who joined the event as a special guest from the United States, said it was encouraging to see the Authority running basic Sindhi language centres. He remarked that the numerals and symbols used in Sindhi trace their roots to the civilisation of Mohenjo-daro, adding that while many of those ancient sounds still exist in spoken Sindhi, they are no longer represented in the script.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taluka Education Officer Rafia Jamal Soomro<\/em> said the course focuses on essential language skills and urged primary school teachers to benefit from it, describing primary schools as “fortresses of language” and teachers as their “guardians.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speakers, including journalist and poet *Zahid Jamri, college lecturer *Ahsan Laghari<\/em> and Research Officer Khan Muhammad Jarwar<\/em>, emphasised the importance of learning correct grammar, preserving the Sindhi language and encouraging families to speak Sindhi with children to pass the language on to future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course participants Nosheen Ujan<\/em> and Fraz Lashari<\/em> said the training had significantly improved their understanding of Sindhi grammar, pronunciation, sentence formation and language structure, describing the programme as highly beneficial for teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
