Lahore:<\/strong> The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)<\/strong> has officially confirmed that the Pakistan men’s national football team<\/strong> will participate in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup<\/strong> later this year, marking the country’s first-ever appearance in a FIFA tournament<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the PFF, the tournament will be held in Indonesia<\/strong> during September and October<\/strong>, providing Pakistan with a landmark opportunity to compete on the international stage under a FIFA event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federation said Pakistan will compete in the top tier<\/strong> of the FIFA ASEAN Cup, where it is set to face several established Asian teams, including India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan is one of three invited nations<\/strong> granted special entry into the competition. The participating teams will be divided into two groups<\/strong>, with the tournament featuring a round-robin format before the knockout stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PFF President Syed Mohsen Gilani<\/strong> described the participation as a historic milestone for Pakistani football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Following the participation of Pakistan’s women’s national team in the FIFA Series, our men’s national team will now compete in its first-ever FIFA event. This is a historic achievement for Pakistan football,” Gilani said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the tournament would provide the national side with an excellent opportunity to compete against strong opponents, gain valuable international experience, and showcase its talent on a global platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federation believes that participation in the FIFA ASEAN Cup will contribute to the long-term development of football in Pakistan by exposing players to higher levels of competition and helping the team improve its international standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The confirmation follows earlier reports that Pakistan had been invited to the competition. The Pakistan Football Federation has now formally announced the team’s participation, ending speculation over its involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
