{"id":8028,"date":"2026-07-28T08:00:53","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T08:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=8028"},"modified":"2026-07-28T08:00:53","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T08:00:53","slug":"ajk-elections-pml-n-grabs-9-out-of-13-seats-across-mirpur-division-unofficial-results-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paksouch.com\/?p=8028","title":{"rendered":"AJK elections: PML-N grabs 9 out of 13 seats across Mirpur division, unofficial results show"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PML-N grabbed nine out of the 13 constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s (AJK) Mirpur division in yesterday\u2019s elections, preliminary results issued by the Election Commission showed on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polls in AJK are being held in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2017254\">three phases<\/a>&nbsp;over security concerns, with the first set of polls&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2018691\/polling-concludes-in-mirpur-division-as-scuffles-rigging-allegations-mar-first-phase-of-ajk-elections\">held in Mirpur division<\/a>&nbsp;on Monday. Scuffles, violence and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2018691\/polling-concludes-in-mirpur-division-as-scuffles-rigging-allegations-mar-first-phase-of-ajk-elections#:~:text=PPP%2C%20PML%2DN%20trade%20rigging%20allegations\">allegations of rigging<\/a>&nbsp;had marred the polling process, with the PML-N and PPP accusing each other of electoral malpractice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to preliminary results issued by the AJK Election Commission (Forms-26 and Forms-27), the PML-N emerged as the winner in nine constituencies, while the PPP could secure only four seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Form-27 lists cumulative results based on votes cast on the polling day and by the election staff in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2017118\">advance polling<\/a>. Form-26 comprises only the ballots cast on the main polling day, July 27, in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/2018960\/ajk-elections-pml-n-grabs-9-out-of-13-seats-across-mirpur-division-unofficial-results-show#results-breakdown\"><\/a>Results breakdown<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following an intense election campaign by both parties in the lead-up to the polls, the PML-N emerged victorious in Mirpur district\u2019s Dadyal and Khari Sharif; Bhimber district\u2019s Barnala, Samahni and Bhimber; and Kotli district\u2019s Nakyal, Sehnsa, Charhoi and Khuiratta, according to unofficial results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the PPP secured the key city of Mirpur, as well as the district\u2019s Chakswari, along with two seats in Kotli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In LA-1 (Mirpur-I), PML-N\u2019s&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.radio.gov.pk\/29-06-2026\/azhar-sadiq-joins-pml-n-azad-kashmir-with-supporters\">Azhar Sadiq<\/a>&nbsp;was successful with 15,427 votes, while his opponent Muhammad Afzal Shahid trailed with 9,832 votes, Form-27 results issued by the Election Commission showed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PPP won the LA-2 (Mirpur-II) seat, with its candidate Qasim Majeed securing 13,378 votes, according to Form-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PPP and PML-N had a close contest in LA-3 (Mirpur-III), with the former\u2019s Yasir Sultan emerging as the winner with 12,590 votes while his opponent grabbed 11,081 votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In LA-4 (Mirpur-IV), PML-N\u2019s Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed won with 22,376 votes, while PPP\u2019s Sohaib Arshad was the runner-up with 15,851 votes, Form-27 showed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barnala\u2019s LA-5 (Bhimber-I) seat also saw a close contest between PML-N\u2019s Waqar Ahmed Noor and PPP\u2019s Chaudhry Parvaiz Ashraf.
