RAWALPINDI:<\/strong> General Syed Amir Raza<\/strong> has formally assumed command as the Commander of the National Strategic Command<\/strong>, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the military’s media wing, General Amir Raza was presented with a Guard of Honour<\/strong> upon taking over the command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the ceremony, he laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial<\/strong> and offered Fateha<\/strong> in tribute to the armed forces personnel who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISPR said that following the ceremony, General Amir Raza met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir<\/strong> at the General Headquarters (GHQ)<\/strong> in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated General Amir Raza on assuming his new responsibilities and conveyed his best wishes for success in the role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development follows the federal government’s decision, announced two days earlier, to promote Lieutenant General Amir Raza<\/strong> to the rank of four-star general<\/strong> and appoint him as Commander of the National Strategic Command<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s Office<\/strong>, which confirmed both his promotion and his new appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Amir Raza was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1988<\/strong>. He is a graduate of the Command and Staff College, Quetta<\/strong>, and the National Defence University, Islamabad<\/strong>. He also holds a degree in International Relations<\/strong> from the University of Nottingham<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before his latest appointment, General Amir Raza was serving as the Chief of General Staff (CGS)<\/strong> at GHQ, a position he assumed in January 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his military career, he has also served as Commander of IV Corps<\/strong> and Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT)<\/strong>, holding several key command and staff appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ISPR said the change of command marks the beginning of General Amir Raza’s tenure as head of the National Strategic Command, one of the Pakistan Army’s key strategic formations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
