Sukkur:<\/strong> A couple from Pathan Colony, New Pind<\/strong>, Sukkur, who say they entered into a marriage of their own free will, has appealed to the authorities for immediate protection, alleging that they have been receiving death threats following their court marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a press conference at the Sukkur Press Club<\/strong>, Sikandar Ali Mirani<\/strong>, son of Muhammad Yaseen Mirani, and his wife Juveria Abbasi<\/strong>, daughter of Muhammad Maqsood Abbasi, said they had solemnised their marriage at the Hyderabad Sessions Court on 20 July<\/strong> after completing all legal formalities with mutual consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple said they wished to live peacefully in Sukkur following their marriage but alleged that Juveria’s family had refused to accept their decision and had been threatening them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juveria Abbasi claimed that her father, Muhammad Maqsood Abbasi<\/strong>, her brother, Muhammad Saqib Abbasi<\/strong>, and other relatives had been harassing the couple and issuing serious threats. She further alleged that Abdul Ghaffar Mirani<\/strong> and Kashmira Mirani<\/strong> had also threatened them, despite having no involvement in the marriage or the legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She maintained that she had left her family home voluntarily and had not been abducted or forced into marriage. According to her, she freely chose to marry Sikandar Ali Mirani through the court and has since been living in fear because of the alleged threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to reporters, Juveria said she had exercised her legal right to marry by choice but now feared for her safety due to the opposition from her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sikandar Ali Mirani said the couple had chosen to marry because they loved each other and had followed the legal process. He alleged that Juveria’s father and brother were unhappy with the marriage and that threats from several individuals had created concerns that an untoward incident could occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the media, the couple appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan<\/strong>, the Chief Minister of Sindh<\/strong>, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh<\/strong>, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sukkur<\/strong>, and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukkur<\/strong> to provide them with immediate legal protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also requested that their statement be placed on official record so that, if any harm comes to them in the future, those responsible can be held legally accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple said they face serious risks to their lives and urged the relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the matter and ensure their safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
