Sukkur:<\/strong> Leaders of the Priya Action Committee<\/strong> have announced that their peaceful campaign will continue until all missing children are recovered, accusing the government of failing to fulfil commitments made following the end of the 27-day Babarlo Bypass sit-in<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing an emergency press conference at the Sukkur Press Club<\/strong>, committee leaders Sohni Paras<\/strong>, Convener Liaquat Jalbani<\/strong>, and other representatives said their movement is solely focused on securing the recovery of missing children and ensuring justice for affected families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sohni Paras alleged that after the Babarlo Bypass protest ended, the government and local administration failed to honour assurances that practical steps would be taken to recover the missing children. She further claimed that, instead of addressing the families’ concerns, authorities registered criminal cases, including terrorism charges, against several protest participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the committee, the government had assured protesters that efforts would be made to recover the missing children and that detained activists would be released if the sit-in was called off. However, Sohni Paras alleged that those released were required to agree not to organise future sit-ins or block roads and to limit themselves to conventional forms of protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee also questioned official claims regarding the recovery of three girls, including Asifa Mughal<\/strong>, who authorities said had been traced in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa<\/strong>. Sohni Paras stated that officials informed the family that Asifa had married and wished to remain with her husband. While her father was reportedly allowed to meet her, the committee argued that the legal process had not been properly followed because she was not produced before the relevant court in Sindh, where the original case had been registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leaders also raised concerns about two sisters allegedly abducted from Karachi’s Sachal<\/strong> area. They claimed that although authorities announced their recovery, the girls had neither been returned to their mother nor had the nominated suspects been arrested. The committee alleged that officials were attempting to satisfy the families by showing them videos rather than completing the legal process and bringing those responsible to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sohni Paras said the law appeared ineffective when dealing with influential individuals in missing children cases, while peaceful protesters were facing serious criminal charges. She maintained that if the children had genuinely been recovered, they should be presented before the relevant courts to complete the legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee also criticised local political leaders and elected representatives, accusing them of failing to support families who had staged prolonged protests in difficult weather conditions. According to the speakers, elected officials should have represented the concerns of affected families but largely remained silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing concern over the broader issue, the committee described the disappearance of children as a serious humanitarian crisis and said possibilities such as child trafficking or illegal organ trade should not be ignored. The speakers called for impartial investigations into all such cases and demanded that those responsible be brought before the courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sohni Paras emphasised that the Priya Action Committee is not campaigning against any political party or state institution<\/strong>, but is solely seeking the recovery of missing children. She reiterated that the movement has remained peaceful and would continue to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee further alleged that police used force during the Babarlo Bypass sit-in, arrested protesters, subjected them to psychological pressure and registered terrorism-related cases despite what it described as a peaceful demonstration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Announcing the committee’s next course of action, the leaders said a protest demonstration would be held outside the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi next Sunday at 5:00 p.m.<\/strong> They said the gathering would be attended by parents of missing children from across Sindh, along with social activists, lawyers, labour organisations, political and religious groups, and human rights advocates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Priya Action Committee called on both the Sindh<\/strong> and federal governments<\/strong> to make the recovery of missing children a top priority, conduct transparent investigations into all registered cases, arrest those responsible and withdraw terrorism and other criminal cases filed against peaceful protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding the press conference, Sohni Paras said the movement has no political agenda and is driven only by the desire of parents to be reunited with their missing children. She pledged that the committee’s peaceful struggle would continue until every missing child is safely returned to their family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
